Signboard unveiling ceremony held for Okayama University Green Innovation Center
On April 12, this university held a signboard unveiling ceremony for the Okayama University Green Innovation Center. The center was established on April 1 as a center for human resource development and technology development to support regional development and a regional decarbonized society, as part of the university's SDGs promotion research university.
At the unveiling ceremony, President Hirohumi Makino and Director of the Green Innovation Center, Masanobu Abe, who is in charge of special missions (promotion of digital transformation), gave their greetings, and President Makino offered words of encouragement, saying, "I hope that the project will develop collaborative projects that transcend the boundaries of organizations and groups, such as projects to promote the wooden construction and forestry industries and projects to promote DX for local companies, and contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society, regional recycling symbiosis zone, and regional development.
At the unveiling ceremony, the new signboard was unveiled by President Makino, Director Takahashi (in charge of Planning, Evaluation, and General Affairs), Center Director Abe, Division Director Ayano, and Division Director Nogami.
The center consists of two divisions: the "Wood Construction, Forestry, and Supply Chain Division," which also works with the forestry and timber industry in the northern part of the prefecture, centering on Maniwa City, an SDG future city, and the "Green by Digital Division" will provide technical support for the construction of information infrastructure in the forestry industry, as well as training for local DX human resources with a view to the Chugoku and Shikoku region. Through these two divisions, we aim to develop a new business model to promote regional zero carbon and realize a regional recycling symbiosis zone.
The wooden signboard installed at the center was made by the "Forestry, Lumber and Wood Construction Zone Study Group" consisting of Maniwa City and other organizations, using cypress trees produced in Maniwa City.
