ESD Workshop for the Asian Region held toward the achievement of the SDGs

Okayama University held the ESD Workshop (Regional Workshop on Enhancing Community Engagement for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) toward Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)) for the Asian Region for five days from September 10 through 14, under the co-sponsorship of UNESCO, Okayama Municipal Government, Okayama ESD Promotion Commission, and the Asia-Pacific Cultural Centre for UNESCO.
Educators from 14 Asian countries gathered in Okayama, and learned about each country’s experiences of the promotion of ESD in communities; activities of community centers and schools in Okayama City; and activities of our university to train staff members of community centers and school teachers, in our university’s Faculty of Education as well as in Okayama City. With participants engaging in group discussions, and each of them preparing a program to train leaders for practicing ESD, and giving a presentation on the final day, the Workshop proved highly productive.
