Okayama University Signs Comprehensive Agreement with Kojitsu Sanso with a View to Achieving the SDGs
Okayama University signed a comprehensive agreement with Kojitsu Sanso, Co. Ltd. (Kojitsu Sanso) on March 9 with a view to achieving the SDGs.
The purpose of this agreement is to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs by promoting the realization of an equal and fair society and the protection of the natural environment through cooperation and the effective utilization of each party’s respective resources.
Kojitsu Sanso is Japan’s first mountaineering equipment specialty store and has been in business selling mountaineering, climbing, and outdoor specialty goods for 98 years. Not only does the company have a wealth of knowledge about nature and the environment, but in recent years it has also started promoting various environmental conservation efforts under its eco-project called “Eco-Jitsu”.
Both parties have been involved in promoting “Outdoor Barrier-Free” so that all people, regardless of physical ability, have the opportunity to participate in outdoor activities. Thanks to their shared interests in promoting health and welfare for all and conserving the global environment, Okayama University, and Kojitsu Sano have entered into an industry-academia partnership to further contribute to the achievement of the SDGs.
Okayama University President MAKINO Hirofumi and Kojitsu Sano President and CEO IKEDA Shingo were present at the signing ceremony to conclude the agreement. Afterwards, President Makino commented, “I hope that this agreement will contribute to solving the global challenges of achieving the SDGs and planetary healthy.” President Ikeda added, “In the near future, I sincerely hope that our collaboration will grow tangibly and speedily”.
