Human resource development and discovery of local potentials through the action research training

Social background

There are various social problems in Japanese rural area, such as depopulation and aging society. It is strongly necessary, therefore, to develop human resources which can contribute to mitigate these problems on-the-ground basis.

Objectives

The objective of the project is to develop above-mentioned human resources through the action research, together with finding solutions for rural area. Students themselves set up their own research themes, conduct fieldworks in a rural area in Chu-shikoku and Kansai regions, discover local problems and potentials, and provide suggestions to mitigate these problems. Findings are fed back to rural people through the reports and presentations.

Expected results

We expect students to enhance their overall capabilities for planning, doing, and communicating in a society, as well as their learning motivations. Rural people may also have new idea to solve local problems by inspiring students’ suggestions.
