Study of Co-operator for Supporting Operations of Industrial Plants

Objectives and Activity

Large-scaled industrial plants manufacture industrial products for sustainable development of human beings. It is important to detect anomalies happened and to take suitable countermeasures for serious events as well as to conduct suitable design, maintenance and work for safe and stable operation and reducing the burden to environment.
This study deals with an operator support system as a co-operator that is composed of software agents in order to prevent an accident of industrial plants and to reduce the harmful effect of the accident happened. This study especially focuses on developing a technique and a prototype to systematically generate alternative counter operation procedures based on a functional model that represents the functions (roles) of components of a plant in an accidental case that safety systems prepared in advance do not work normally.

Expected effects

By the development of a co-operator, an anomaly happened is accurately detected and identified and human errors in a countermeasure to transfer plant condition to a safe one are reduced. The safety of industrial plants will increase by supporting suitably operators under a high mental stress state by means of generating plausible counter operation procedures and displaying the explanations of them in the case of happening an unexpected abnormal event.
