Fostering advanced practitioners and rediscovering regional potential through fieldwork in geography

Social background:

Sustainable economic growth and regional development are urgent issues for non-metropolitan areas. There is an urgent need to develop practitioners who can contribute to community development at the same time as solving these problems.

Purpose and outline of the activity:

This initiative aims to foster advanced practitioners and rediscover regional potential that contributes to solving regional issues through problem-solving research training (geography field experiments). In neighboring cities, towns and villages, students themselves set research themes, conduct fieldwork, extract local issues, and find potential resources and power in the area. After that, the results will be returned to the region by proposing ideas for solving regional issues through the preparation of reports.

Expected results:

In addition to improving student independence, learning motivation, and communication skills, acquisition of practical knowledge based on interdependence with academic knowledge, such as how to grasp and analyze regional issues, and ideas for problem solving. Can be expected. It was also confirmed that there is a need for collaboration to solve regional issues through industry-academia-government collaboration.
