Research and education on control for antimicrobial resistance based on One Health approach

Background: Due to misuse and abuse of antimicrobial agents, the number of drug-resistant bacteria is increasing; the development of new antimicrobial agents has been decreasing. For this issue, the control of drug resistance is internationally required based on multidisciplinary approach called One Health approach, which includes medicine, environmental studies, and animal science.

Outline and objectives of activities: In this project, we will conduct research on drug resistance countermeasures based on a one-health approach that integrates clinical medicine, basic medicine, and environmental science. We also educate students through hands-on research-based education such as laboratory assignment courses.

Expected effects: The latest research on drug resistance measures can be performed. The education of students on drug resistance measures based on the One Health approach can be achieved.
