Social background

　Although pathologic diagnosis is essential for advanced medicine, only 2000 pathologists are active in japan, that is only 30% of required number.

Object of our project

　To improve the diagnostic level, woman pathologists are so needed and we should prepare appropriate environment for them. We have 25 affiliated hospitals which need pathologists, and almost all pathologists are associated from our department. Total number of pathologists are over 50, and half of them are woman. Most woman pathologists are married and have children. We always support with one-year substitutes, and all woman pathologists have come back in one year after the delivery. This is not only in Okayama prefecture but other prefectures, and we suppose this type of help system is essential for the pathology system Japan.

Expected effects

　This type of help system will achieve gender-equal society in medicine. High-level medicine with pathologists will give advantages to the welfare of the people and genome-based medicine.
