Effective care support for elderly people by multidisciplinary cooperation

Background

  Japan's population is aging rapidly, and >6 million people are in need of nursing care. The number of nursing homes is increasing, and a lot of staff (>1.38 million) engaged in nursing care.

Objectives

  The purpose of this project is to extend healthy life expectancy by supporting elderly people, and to systematically educate and train care staff and to improve the quality of care. Specialists in each field of the Graduate School of Health Sciences (Nursing, Radiation, Examination) evaluate the physical condition of the elderly and formulate an environment (support program) that can support itself and support itself.  In addition, We are planning to propose an Okayama University-style education curriculum that evaluates the characteristics of facilities and staff in a nursing care facility, extends the strength of each facility, and strengthens vulnerable areas.
Our plans are; (1) Physical condition check, Planning on issues related to the residents and (2) Education curriculum construction about medical care for the staff, human resources interchange

Expected effects

  Leading to the reduction of medical expenses and nursing expenses by reducing the number of elderly people who need nursing care and the degree of nursing care. Train high-quality Japanese-style (Okayama University type) nursing homes and staff with objective evaluation.
