Labor law regulations for protecting workers' rights in the age of complexed corporate network

Background

Third parties of employment contracts (such as parent companies, franchisors and orderers) economically influence employers through globally-scaled outsourcing  and company reorganization. This phenomenon can cause labor law violations in vulnerable companies in corporate networks, violating the rights of employees as well as the safety of their working environment while depriving these employees of decent work.

Activity and Prospect Result

This project comparatively and comprehensively examines labor laws imposing duties on third parties from the point of who and how should be regulated to reduce violations and to protect workers’ rights. This project will reveal that not only should third parties be liable to employees, but also that they should participate in a process of labor law compliance with employers. This project will contribute to allowing all workers, regardless of company size, to enjoy decent work.
