Bridging Okayama and the World:Multi-disciplinary Program for “Glocal” Commitments

Overview

The Discovery Program for Global Learners is a new bachelor's program, which Okayama University launched to fulfill its mission as part of the “Top Global University Project”, funded by the Japanese government. This program aims to nurture inspiring young leaders who will take active roles on the global stage.

Education

The program accepts an equal number of international and Japanese students. Each year, around 30 students from Japan and 30 from abroad join this program and study in an interdisciplinary and bilingual environment. Currently, students from over 20 countries are enrolled.
Students can pursue their studies in the Japanese-based Open Track, or English-based Discovery Track which offers courses entirely in English. The latter track includes three concentrations: transdisciplinary sciences for global sustainability, cultural diversity and communities, and social innovation and entrepreneurship. Students can also take courses from both tracks.

Objectives

We cherish the idea of diversity. Our faculty members also come from diverse backgrounds and rich experiences in different parts of the worlds.
