Profile

SDGs Ambassador
Belongs to TABLE FOR TWO, Okayama University.
Born in Shiga Prefecture. I am interested in food loss.
If there is something/people I care about, I try to interact with them actively!

How did you become interested in the SDGs?

I became interested in the SDGs under the influence of a friend in high school who was conducting an exploratory study on the SDGs. My friend was actively dealing with social issues, and even though we are of the same generation, I felt that we were looking at different worlds. Seeing my friend who had gained connections with various people through her activities, I wanted to be like her and decided to do something related to the SDGs myself.

Why are you interested in food loss?

Because I love to eat! I usually make it my goal not to leave food out of my diet. My interest in food loss was further heightened when I learned that the restaurant industry was stockpiling food following the spread of coronavirus infection.
I was interested in the community and food, so when I heard about Professor Iwabuchi's class at the Center for Integrated Community Studies, I went to see him in person and became involved in community activities. I enjoy being able to get involved with a variety of people and gain experience that will help me in some way.
I am also a member of Okayama University TABLE FOR TWO, and am currently working on the Healthy Spice Curry Project.

What is the Healthy Spice Curry Project?

To commemorate the 5,000-serving TFT bento (take-out TFT menu) that Okayama University TABLE FOR TWO (hereinafter referred to as "Okayama University TFT") and the Co-op have cooperatively provided, we offered healthy spiced curry from the end of January to February last year, which was very well received. Now that we have reached the 10,000-serving mark for TFT bento, we have decided to reintroduce the Healthy Spice Curry from May!
Last time it was only served at the Tsushima Campus Peach Union 3rd floor eat-in, but now it will also be available for take-out, as requested! No dairy products will be used, and the number of servings per day will be increased to 50. The price is the same as last time, 440 yen (tax included), but the curry is more spicy and aromatic. For more information, please check social networking sites. (@OkadaiTFT)

What are your thoughts on the project?

Okadai TFT is a group of SDGs ambassadors and others who are interested in the SDGs. Each member has his or her own ideal world and values. Meeting, interacting, and planning together with such diverse people provides us with many stimulating experiences and discoveries. Through planning, I feel that I have acquired the ability to "try things on my own" with courage, rather than "follow what someone else decides. In addition to the Healthy Spice Curry project, Okadai TFT is also developing new TFT bento menus. We will continue to work as hard as we can to provide TFT menus for everyone!

About myself and society in 2030

I think there are many problems piling up. Among them, I would like to contribute to the creation of a system to solve the problem of food loss, even if only a little. I would be happy if people spread the idea of buying items that are close to their expiration date if they are to be used today.
There are some philanthropic activities that require sacrifice of oneself, aren't there? In this context, TABLE FOR TWO is a wonderful initiative that can simultaneously help people in developed countries stay healthy (good for us) and help people in developing countries solve hunger (good for the people around us). I would like to make the world a place where the choices we make for ourselves can also have a positive impact on those around us.

Message to everyone

Eating is a happy thing. We hope that you will eat TFT food not only because you share our philosophy, but also because you feel that TFT can be one of the choices for your own food. We hope that people will eat the TFT menu and think that it is not as difficult to achieve the SDGs as they think, and that they can do it too.

We'll be serving curry that's more powerful than last time, so look forward to it!
