OKAYAMA PEACH CIDER ”Shimizu White Peach” provided by returnable bottle

Overview of activity

  • As a symbolic environmentally friendly item for promoting “Reuse”, Okayama University and NPO “Okayama Kenjin Project” and collaborated to develop ”OKAYAMA PEACH CIDER Shimizu White Peach” provided by returnable bottle. This carbonated drink uses peach juice of ”Shimizu White Peach” and honey from wild cherry blossoms grown in Okayama. The drink also intended to promote “Local production for Local consumption”.
  • To promote people’s understanding on the effect of “Reuse”, this drink has got certification of “Carbon Footprint (CFP) Communication Program”, which intends to visualize the Greenhouse gas emissions by CO2. If you discard the glass bottle in one, you discharge 430g-CO2e. If you reuse the glass bottle 5 times, you discharge 130g-CO2e in one and can decrease 69% of GHG emission. The certified CFP mark and the short explanation of effect of “Reuse” are indicated on the label of drink.
  • This drink is sold with the deposit of 50 JPY for the glass bottle. When you return a vacant bottle to the shop you bought, you can get the refund of 50 JPY. This deposit refund system intends to increase the recovery rate of glass bottle.
  • This activity for promoting returnable bottles was funded by Ministry of the Environment.
  • The drink was served at G20 Okayama Health Ministers’ Meeting held on October 19th-20th, 2019.
