"[Students-suggested Course] SDGs Collaborative Learning with Companies" planning and management assistance

Although the term "SDGs" has been heard frequently in recent years, there are only a few opportunities for students to learn about the SDGs, and at Okayama University, students only have the chance to learn about the SDGs in depth in a lecture called "Introduction to SDGs" upon entering the university. Even students who are interested in solving social issues and the SDGs face difficulties in understanding how to become proactive and start activities on their own. And even students interested in the SDGs have little experience in learning about the activities of companies working on the SDGs. Therefore, in this course, we will open a course that students want to learn on their own initiative (learning about SDGs activities of companies), with the aim of encouraging students to think about SDGs initiatives of their own companies and engage in activities on their own.

The main activity is to assist in the planning and management of the "[Students-suggested Course] SDGs Collaborative Learning with Companies". Pick up companies to visit based on their own interests and approach those companies. Once they agree, their initiatives will be introduced in courses and students will be asked to propose new projects through group work.

This allows students to learn about corporate initiatives and how to develop plans and present presentations, while also providing companies with new ideas from the students' perspective. In addition, some companies have continued to collaborate with us since the opening of last year's course, and we expect this collaboration to be effective in addressing the SDGs.

◎This initiative received the Encouragement Award of the FY2021 Okayama University SDGs Promotion Award (President Award).
