Electrochemical organic synthesis with microflow reactors and machine learning optimization

Although organic chemistry, which enable to provide a variety of organic compounds, has been developed over hundreds years, the generation of waste from reagents becomes a great issue to be solved. We aim to solve this problem using an electrochemical organic synthesis with microflow reactor and machine learning assisted optimization.

Electrochemical organic synthesis have attracted many chemists over the past decades since this method allows a sustainable chemistry. On the other hand, it is difficult to control generated chemical species derived from an electrode reaction. We developed an electrochemical microflow reactor, which could control the reactivity in the tiny reaction space with the continuous flow system. Recently, we have also started research on reaction optimization using machine learning. We believe the combination of organic chemistry and informatics should bring innovation to organic synthesis.
