Radiation technology for healthy life

Background

Cancer is the top cause of death in our aged society. Therefore, we need the improvement of cancer diagnosis and therapy. Ionizing radiation is one of effective tools for these purposes with the future prospect.

Objectives

There are two divisions, Okayama Medical Innovation Center (OMIC) and Neutron Therapy Research Center (NTRC) in our Shikata Radiation Facility Building for this purposes. We provide their research infrastructure and support their faculties. Thus, we are going to promote development of radiation utilization in cancer diagnosis and therapy.

Activity

In joint of OMIC, we study for development of novel molecular imaging reagents and procedures. In joint of NTRC, we research a novel reagent development for boron neutron cancer therapy (BNCT). Additionally, we are collaborating with many institutes out of our university such as Kyoto University, Kindai University, and Hiroshima University for this purpose.

Anticipated results

This study will bring novel and more effective technologies for cancer diagnosis and therapy. Then, the results lead us healthy world overcoming cancer.
